Yesterday ended with beauty that brought me to tears. I took myself to eat at a little French place called Chez Max in the heart of the city, my meal was lovely, my wine Red. As I left the restaurant I turned the corner to find myself alone in the courtyard of Dublin Castle Cathedral, the sky was darkened and the light from within shone through the stained glass, as if somehow the world outside was the cathedral, the spaces reversing roles and sending me the clear message I needed for the remainder of my trip. I stood alone crying for a full 10 minutes, no one walked by, not a soul. It was beautiful.
I proceeded to walk only to turn a corner to a courtyard with an expanse of grass and a stone castle structure an the far end of the space. A perfect picture to end yesterday, and a much needed switch in my thinking. I am grateful.
Escargot at Chez Max.
Beef bourguignon. Delicious.
Today I had a slow start. I can’t seem to quit sleeping. Jet lag. I woke up around 10:30 and headed over to the Guinness Storehouse which was kind of a bust, too many people, too long to get served. I didn’t feel like standing around for 3 hours..the outside was cool though.
Instead of pouting, I headed over to The Irish Museum of Modern Art. Just fantastic. The ticket was around €7.50 for all exhibits. The first building had a mix of everything sculpture, Paintings, film, interactive exhibits. I only took a few photos of my favorite works:
The gardens at the museum were really the most extraordinary part. I highly suggest taking a stroll if you’re visiting Dublin..best part the gardens are free and expansive. It took me 2 hours and I had seen only 1/3 of them.
Heading out into the city to find myself some vinyl records. I may need a bigger bag.
